Company OverView
Canada Cartage is a leading national provider of customer-located, dedicated trucking services and warehouse solutions. The majority of Canada Cartage’s fleet and drivers are dedicated to specific customers and reside at their locations.
Since its founding in 1914, Canada Cartage has provided a complete range of transportation services, specializing in the provision of fully outsourced, customer-located, dedicated trucking services. Canada Cartage was one of the first carriers to offer this service to Canadian companies and is currently one of the largest in the country, supplying dedicated fleet solutions to many corporations, some for more than 50 years. Canada Cartage’s operations are located in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.

UNIQUE BUSINESS MODEL
Canada Cartage’s business model is a unique approach in which the majority of its fleet is located at customers’ sites with a small non-dedicated fleet residing at each of Canada Cartage’s own trucking terminals. This organization of resources gives Canada Cartage the ability to provide daily baseline services to its dedicated customers and still have the flexibility to respond quickly and efficiently when dedicated customers have demand surges that cannot be handled by their customer-located dedicated fleets. This is a key differentiator of Canada Cartage relative to its competitors. When the non-dedicated fleet and drivers at the terminals are not required to serve dedicated customers, Canada Cartage provides general cartage services to non-dedicated customers using these resources to maximize revenue and the utilization of its total fleet.
 Canada Cartage’s customers have recognized that reducing inventory is critical to success, and this reduction has created the need for quicker response times from carriers. Furthermore, customers require the flexibility to have resources above and beyond their base fleet at their request during periods of higher volumes (particularly the holiday season). Private fleet companies (non-trucking companies operating their own fleet) either have no excess resources to draw from during these volume surges or they must carry redundant equipment and manpower. Canada Cartage’s model allows a customer to leverage off of Canada Cartage’s non-dedicated resources during volume surges thus reducing redundant resources. This model not only delivers a cost effective solution to customers but it also provides them with improved flexibility.

Safety & Insurance
Canada Cartage prides itself on its safety record and its safety management program. Canada Cartage has put in place policies that are designed to contribute to and promote a safe work environment. Canada Cartage maintains a high level of safety awareness and seeks to continually improve safety performance. Canada Cartage rigorously tests new drivers and also has a Safety and Compliance team to ensure all drivers are operating in a safe manner. Canada Cartage carries broad insurance coverage for its operations, including liability insurance as well as umbrella coverage for claims exceeding Canada Cartage’s primary insurance policies. |
Warehousing and distribution centres & logistics
Canada Cartage offers comprehensive warehousing and distribution services on both a full-service and a contract basis through its Direct Distribution Centres division. These services extend beyond the basics of traditional warehousing to include web-based ordering, real-time inventory management, pick-pack services, consolidation (railcar and container), distribution of products on short notice and efficient management of inventory.
Through Direct Distribution, Canada Cartage develops and implements integrated service solutions utilizing practical advice and proven industry knowledge. Canada Cartage develops strategies that integrate all transportation and warehousing requirements to eliminate costly duplicated tasks and improve delivery times.
