In order to understand the full value proposition that Canada Cartage offers, there are three steps that must be followed:
1. Overcome the fear.
2. Recognize the benefits.
3. Understand the unique Canada Cartage model.
If your core business is anything other than trucking, then we are convinced that an investment of 10 to 15 minutes of your time to read “The Benefits of Outsourcing” and “Canada Cartage’s Unique Model” will overcome the fear of engaging Canada Cartage for an open discussion. The two sections will not answer all your questions; however, they will motivate you to meet with a Canada Cartage representative to further discuss your situation and to clearly determine if there is an opportunity to help your company elevate its competitive position through a partnership with Canada Cartage.
Remember that you are not alone. Many corporations across Canada, both big and small, depend on Canada Cartage day in and day out. Big or small, our customer base is diverse and many of our customers have been with us over 20 years and some over 40. |

The Benefits of Outsourced Transportation
The distinguishing feature of Canada Cartage is our size and model. Our trucks are often branded with the logos of our customers and our drivers in many cases take instructions directly from them. This means that the fear of losing control is unfounded. In fact, you will have greater control because Canada Cartage does not want to lose your confidence and will work very hard to overcome any service shortfalls that you may identify.
Our Customers benefit from Canada Cartages’ proven best practices and expertise. With our core competencies in dedicated fleet services, inventory management, information systems and logistics, we take care of managing issues relating to trucking regulations, unions and driver shortages. Yes – we care as much as you do about ensuring service excellence.
With a dedicated fleet, our customers benefit from gaining access to specialized equipment, experienced drivers, sophisticated information technology systems and Canada Cartage’s experienced management team. Furthermore, they forgo the capital requirements of owning and operating their own trucking fleet and can therefore focus on their core competency. For internal stakeholders, the top executives will quickly see the overwhelming benefits. For the driver force, Canada Cartage often assumes the drivers. For operations staff, they typically operate as they did prior to the engagement of Canada Cartage as your dedicated fleet. For external stakeholders, if branding is an issue, we brand the power units in the customer’s colors and furnish drivers with uniforms that are consistent with your colors and branding. On the other hand, we also have customers that prefer to brand trailers, but not the power units. There are also cases where the customer does not want the identity of the load to be determined by the branding, thus leaving power and trailers in Canada Cartage livery. In short, you decide what is best and external stakeholders will either not be aware of the change or they will recognize that running a private fleet is rarely the most economical path and as such, will applaud your desire to operate in the most service-oriented and efficient manner possible. |
Overcome the Fear
At Canada Cartage, we understand that overcoming the fear of entrusting an independent company to service your dedicated trucking requirements and in the process, eliminate the need for a private trucking fleet is not easy.
Fear is a powerful emotion and often prevents us from doing really stupid things. In order to overcome fear, a rational argument is required. A rational argument will motivate action that overpowers fear. The fear of accepting the benefits of engaging Canada Cartage as a dedicated carrier are routed in the following emotions:
• FEAR - Fear of losing control.
• UNCERTAINTY - Uncertain that an independent third party carrier will care as much as you do.
• APPREHENSION - Apprehension about how it will look to internal and external stakeholders.

Value Added Through Technology
Information and Communication are an integral part of our success. We have incorporated many technologies within our dedicated accounts to include GPS tracking, 2-way communications with all drivers and customized reporting (Key Performance Indicators).
With one of the leading technology development teams focused on the dedicated transportation segment, Canada Cartage has the resources and experience to develop programs that integrate with our clients’ systems and provide the necessary reporting to ensure service consistency. It is our intention to ensure that both organizations can share and communicate information daily via a seamless data link and friendly interface.

Single Source Solution versus Multiple Carriers
Different carriers, different contacts, different procedures, lead to inefficient and ineffective operations. We believe the best logistics strategy is to reduce the number of partners you manage, and align yourself with a stable experienced national partner who shares the same culture for excellence. The benefits include fewer channels of communication, less confusion on implementation, faster execution of changes and ultimately less administration. |
Safety and Compliance
All drivers hired by Canada Cartage are required to complete a comprehensive interview, road test and in class evaluation to qualify for each specific job. All dedicated drivers are taken through a full day orientation program which consists of Defensive Driving, Hours of Service, Cargo Securement, Pre-Trip Inspection, Dangerous Goods, Slips, Trips and Falls, Three Point Contact, C.V.O.R, Log Book Training and History of the Company. All driver documents and history are logged and kept on file. All drivers who are required to enter into the U.S.A. must go through Drug & Alcohol Testing to ensure they meet the criteria.
We have 16 pro-trainers within Canada Cartage who help us at most locations with new and current driver issues. We also have a 28’ mobile training classroom that is readily available for on-going driver meetings and training at customer locations.

Canada Cartage coordinates and manages the Health & Safety Committee from various central locations. We work closely with both the Provincial authorities such as Ontario’s M.T.O and the Provincial and Royal Mounted Police across Canada on issues related to Safety and Compliance (S&C). We have a member of our S&C team who sits on the executive of the Council Driver Trainers of Ontario. Three of our S&C team members have signing authority on behalf of the Ministry of Transport to re-new driver’s licenses and are Certified Fleet Driver Trainers. We also operate a 24 hour/365 day a year Emergency Response Team and we have an Accident Review Committee that oversees all investigations.
As part of our Safety and Compliance Program, we perform daily random inspections on our drivers. Our Safety and Compliance commitment within Canada Cartage is a critical element to our organization’s success.
